dont know if you guys already know about this issue but i searched the issues
and couldnt find it.

i go to start new game in shenmue 2 and it says do you want to start from a
cleared shenmue 1 file i press yes then says cannot find file.

What version of the product are you using? What build? What plugins?

I use version: rev 133

I hate to ask the obvious, but do you have a cleared Shenmue 1 save on the
emulated VMU?

Yep of course!
Waited for credits to finish on Shenmue 1 then save, now shows as a
cleared file.

Are both versions of the game the European ones? You know, savegames between
the American and European releases are incompatibles.

There are some tools to convert your saves and fix that over the net.

I can see what you did there.

You got the US perfect series version of SH1 and then, after finishing the game
you tried to restore your progress w/ SH2 EU full dump version.

.................

Quit bothering. It won't work without converting the save data w/ a tool.

Both my Shenmues are PAL.
Shenmue 1 is .cdi
Shenmue 2 is .mds

That should be ok shouldn't it?

Slightly OT but: you've played through Shenmue in nulldc - did disc swap work?

Original comment by matbur...@gmail.com on 11 Jan 2011 at 2:39

Thanks matburgin.

no the disc swap never worked for me,it use to work but it stopped after a
certain rev, i had to save and then reset and boot with next cd in.

Check this page:
http://bswirl.kitsunet.org/vmu/save/public/?lg=en&menu=on&l=S#bar

You can find vmu saves and tools there, more people should download a Shenmue 1
completed save and try to load it on Shenmue 2 to make sure its not an emulator
issue.

I'd try, but I dont have Shenmue 2 :P

I have the same problem. I'm positive that both of my Shenmue 1 & 2 are NTSC
and US version. That's weird...
Has this problem been solved yet?

I thought mine were both pal but they weren't. Double check, once I got both
pal it loaded fine.

If I remember correctly, there's no such thing as Shenmue 2 NTSC US for
Dreamcast.
