[Request] 3DS Port - Is there a chance? #368

Is there a chance for a 3ds port of nulldc? Is it sufficient if only the
ds-mode is homebrew usable (for now it is) or does the 3ds change into ds mode
and lowers the hardware?

...No?

We don't even have a PC version! Why would we have a port to 3DS?

What´s this? http://code.google.com/p/nulldc/downloads/list
Is it so hard to emulate the dreamcast, or is there no real interest?
DrkIIRaziel had made a PoC version a few years ago for the psp and it looks
great (for a PoC). Look here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UANxIWTXriA&feature=related

I think It would be relly nice to play shen mue 1 and 2 on a portable system.
Is there a way to make a special version, that is optimized for shen mue (or
other games)? That´s one of the greatest game for Dreamcast. I´m angry that
Sega doesen´t port it. I don´t think that there will be a port in the next
time, because if they want to port it, they would it do for the psp.

The answer is yes there can be a 3DS version (when running homebrew on 3DS
becomes possible).

The problem is speed. Do not expect playable speeds on something like the 3DS.
Even the PSP which has a faster CPU is not able to do it.

I won't even mention the GPU on that thing which is quite limited. So if a port
materializes, it will be slow and look ugly.

You'll have better luck with something like a Pandora or a modern android
cellphone... or dare I say PSP2 (I think it's called NGP now).

Also, you're referring to nullDCe, this is what has the portable code, not
nullDC.

Those Pandora/PSP/Wii/Android videos that float around are for nullDCe.

All that I wrote applies to nullDCe, not nullDC. nullDC is Windows/x86
dependent so even a Linux/x86 port would be too much of a trouble.

Good to hear news from you PsyMan. And what PsyMan said is completely true.
