Bug: Final Fantasy IX - Corrupt opening FMV, selecting New Game sends you back to the title screen #51

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Let the game run, FMV will "play" but you will see strange squares
2. Select New Game, it will play the corrupt FMV and send you to the Title
Screen

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
You should NOT see a bunch of squares... I think it starts off with an Airship.
Selecting New Game should do exactly that, start a new game. When you start a
new game, you should see an FMV of two girls on a raft on the sea.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
WiiSX Beta 2, Wii

Seems like this issue might be related to the BIOS emulation. I tried different
bios files that I have (renaming them to SCHP1001.BIN so the emulator would use
them) and it crashes more or less consistently depending on which one I use. I
remember that FF9 required subchannel emulation to play as well, but wouldn't
that prevent it from booting period?

We have subchannel emulation already. Your subchannel data file must be named
the same as the main game file but with a .sub extension.

I suspect this is an input bug which we'll address in our next small bugfix
release of WiiSX.

I can vouch for this bug too. My homebrew 360 overheated today so I went to
play some FF9 on the Wii and quickly downloaded your beta. Opening FMV
corruption using any combination of interpreter / dynarec / bios (multiple) /
and HLE. It would figure the one game I came to play wouldn't boot even though
7 and 8 are working fine :\

Here's to hoping someone can look at this, hoping my second test will go
better, going to try Xenogears.

Vouched for as well. I'm just wondering if there's any way I could help with
this - I'm not sure what would be required, but I have some programming
experience, and this is pretty much the only game that I REALLY wanna play on
my Wii, so if there's anything I can do, please let me know!
