What he says is true, But only with older wii's. The wii's that first come out.
Preloader has an option like that in it, and it works for piiloader and the wii
system menu. But not for apps like wiiflow. If you can fix this I thank a
button would be a waist of time just make it always shut down and never stand
by mode. Thanks again

Hopefully this is useful to the discussion. If you turn off WiiConnect24 via
the wii menu then if you shutdown if wiiflow then the wii closes fully and the
USB harddisk stops spinning. So it appears that by having Wii connect24 open
the Wii needs to running to ensure the one line is expenance is upto date.
So if you turn it off this seems to resolve the Harddisk spinning issue.

I also tested leaving WiiConnect24 on and just turning off the "standby
Connection". This also stops the disk spinning.
1.Select the Wii Options icon from the bottom left of the screen on the Wii
Menu.
2.Click on Wii Settings option
3.Click on the right arrow
4.Select WiiConnect24 button
5.On the WiiConnect titled screen, click on the Standby Connection option
6.Select ON or OFF
7.Select Confirm.
I beleive with WiiConnect24 on that online games will work. However the news
and weather channel will not work unless you have the standby Connection on.

i have made a power off channel with the homebrew "power mii of" from the
author sony.
you can install it and put the image in the boxcover directory of wiiflow.
then you can go to wiiflow and start the channel.
maybe it helps for some people.
BUT USE IT ON YOUR OWN RISK!
greetings
