The guide shows that you add the EA Desktop installer as a non-Steam game and run it at one point to install it and that worked fine. The app installed and the full EA Desktop app opened no problem. I then closed it so that I could proceed with the above guide and update the Steam shortcut directory. When trying to re-open the app after that Steam shows "running" "stop" "play" and it forces closes out, I never even see the EA app anymore.
If I try to run the EADesktop.exe file from Dolphin (file explorer) then I'm met with the following:
