Update the UI #75

App UI should be updated to match modern designs. Microsoft fluent design system for windows can be easily achieved with modern wpf

I like the UI design, actually..

but there are some improvements that can be made like removing blue background for a clean black/white background that binds to the user system theme which makes for a better UX.

In addition to that the dropdowns here should be fixed instead of having 1 blue 3d and 1 white flat one we can make them consistent and maybe add a dark mode too image

This can be also fixed to be cleaner and easier to use image

this should be swapped out with a pivot for a better user experience as it will have consistency with other apps a user will be familiar with image

There are many other improvements that can be made too. I can even fork it and make a modern UI one to demonstrate how it could look

The GUI should be easier to use than the ffmpeg cli tool

Hrxn commented 3 years ago

I don't know what you mean, that's all pretty self-explanatory to me.

My suggestions are to fix the stylings mostly. Not the layout

I will plan on modernizing the UI. Post some example images if you can.

I'm also going to try and add a muxer similar to MKVToolNix https://i.imgur.com/TvzhzNF.png

And also have an option to display FFmpeg output inside the program, instead of Command Prompt.

There would be multiple tabs where the Script textbox is. Mux, Jobs, Script, FFmpeg.

This started off as a small program only meant to convert webm, mp4, and mp3, but I've been adding to it as users make suggestions. I spend most of the time trying to get all of the features and FFmpeg commands to work right.

I for one think the GUI is stylish. I like that it has skins, instead of being forced into a single Win10 one. I think much could be said for consistency for the way individual widgets look. What I would like to see, is a theme much like its default theme, but a lighter one, with a nice off-white color for the text, such as ivory or tan, and a lighter-blue version of the same graphics.

I'd have no objection to a skin that picked up settings from the Win10 system; but it would have a very bad side effect: killing Win7 compatibility. I proudly still use Win7, since it is VERY stable, doesn't have as much spyware, and doesn't force updates on you. A Win10 version would be fine; but what's more important: a bland Win10 color scheme using the current Win10 theme's settings, or compatibility for the MANY people who still use earlier versions of Windows?

BTW: I think you're killing it with this project. Much better than the alternatives I've tested. I'd hate to have to quit getting updates for Win7, due to some artless request for a bland Win10 theme.
