thanks for your suggestions. I didn't do any research, but to my current knowledge an extension doesn't have access to the search-highlights. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, for this purpose I can recommend vimium which is a great extension for keyboard-only navigation. I use it myself extensively.

Awesome project. Thought I'd suggest a useful feature. You seem to have a good basis for implementing a quick navigation -feature using ctrl+f to highlight link. All that's needed is a nearby shortcut to open one highlighted link in same tab
