This issue contains the work done to assess the access elevation, azimuth and range rates of change to determine whether a satellite can meet the requirements for SPS applications.

Results from STK Default

aer_results

I believe these results are the angles relative to the satellite.

MatthewGrim commented 5 years ago

The results above for Default are equivalent to the VVLH-CBI frame. I believe this is the Vehicle Velocity Local Horizontal coordinate system in the central body inertial frame.

MatthewGrim commented 5 years ago

Assuming I am right, I also need the angle variation in the frame of reference of the target.

MatthewGrim commented 5 years ago

Doing a calculation by hand for the starting elevation, the angles match. The VVLH results match what should be expected from the satellite reference frame.

Target azimuth and elevation

aer_results

The results for target and azimuth make sense for a topocentric coordinate system.

I'm closing this issue as we have enough to kick off the CDF.
