This issue is just to see if I can model the ion motion effectively enough to try a 1D collisional simulation.

I am closing this issue, as the implementation seems to require a timescale I cannot simulate at the moment, and there are other priorities. The implementation of collisions in single particle motion simulations will be done anyway in the Gummersall work carrying on from issue #24
