Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use Pidgin 2.10.10 installation.
2. Use newest F-list Plugin
3. Attempt to login to your user account.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
SSL Certificate Error; Unable to validate certificate; The certificate for
static.f-list.net could not be validated. The certificate chain presented is
invalid.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Pidgin 2.10.10, libflist-0.3.0, libjson-glib-1.0.dll

Please provide any additional information below.
I have brought the certificate issue to the attention of Teal Deer in the
helpdesk room. I presume this is more of an f-list issue than it is the plugin,
but I'm no programmer myself so I figured I'd make sure everyone was aware.

This appears to be a bug in pidgin, until it's fixed, try the following :

- Exit Pidgin completely (do not just minimize it)

- Open the "Application Data" directory by typing Win+R and then %APPDATA%

(It should open an explorer window to a directory whose full path looks like
C:\Users\somename\AppData\Roaming)

- In this directory, go to .purple => certificates => x509 => tls_peers

- Replace the static.f-list.net file with the attached file

If you have trouble locating the correct file to replace, try simply using the
windows search function to locate any file named
"static.f-list.net" on your hard drive, you will probably find the right one.
