i was facing the same problem with a self powered Hub and E180 , so far i found
that the problem is with power, USB dongle can't have the enough power
500mAMP,the power adopter for USB hub was though rated as 5 volt and 2AMP , but
wasn't good .Dongle was disconnecting after 2 or 3 seconds .
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0608 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB-2.0 4-Port HUB
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 12d1:140c Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 054c:05ba Sony Corp.
so i replaced the power adopter with Dell PSU (MAx out put 210Watt) .now PSU
provides the 5volt and 2AMP to USB hub.
. so far i can establish a call for 2 mints or so .Dongle dosn't disconnect frequently (though it disconnects ). so my dumb guess is that chan_dongle is OK ,coz this dongle works fine if asterisk is running on PC and dongle is connected directly to pc . but if i use embeded plateform and USB self powered hub then i face problems .

andrei's problem may be related to chan_dongle itself . i also found after few mints test that volts in Power adopter continue to change , sometimes it is providing full 5 volt ,sometimes it's 5.2 volt and sometimes just 4.x volts .

well .the less-diconnection after changing the PSU was becoz i was calling the
Telco IVR for testing :D and they disconnected me after 2 mints while in call,
by calling to other cellphones i came to know that power adopter replacement
actually worked . that frequent disconnect problem is gone now but i faced a
new problem when i used /dev/ttyUSBx interface with chan_dongle . the other
person disconnected the call but dongle status continued to show "dialing" , i
restarted the dongle from CLI but didn't work , i plugged out and in the dongle
then it even didn't show up in 'dongle show devices' , after all i had to
reboot the board , then i used the IMIE and IMSI digits instead of /dev/ttyUSBx
interface and the problems are gone now . though my comments and post are
getting out of the context of the original post by Andrie ,but it may help
others . sorry for hijacking the original post/question/problem.

Thanks for advice.
I will give it a try to changing power adapter to a brand one - maybe a refurb
branded PC PSU. I will give you details here later.
Thanks,
Andrei

Andrie , i forgot to mention that i replaced the power adopter with PC PSU ,
,http://www.3sfmedia.net/images//computers/dell-psu_4154.jpg this one. and
powered USB hub with RED(5volt) and Black (GND) wire from a power jack ., plz
first check it with multimeter .
