Stable line release hasn't been updated in over 4 years? #2325

It appears that Stable line hasn't been updated for over 4 years. Is there intent to have Stable line release updated to a more current release?

I honestly thought that the development of project was dead as I'm using stable line and haven't seen updates for a long time. Decided to check up on this, and turns out previews are updated all the time, but Stable is old since Dec 6th 2016. Surely Preview line had updates that were high quality to make it to Stable line, no?

Yeah. The problem is that I'm never happy enough to mark some version as stable.

🤣

It's appreciable, and a sign of a good developer and artist constantly tinkering and improving their work!

That said, it, at the same time, says that for four years it's been "unstable" and no desire to bring it up to quality - and that's not a good sign.

Surely that 23 or 43 preview releases since the last stable release haven't been all worse than the current stable? I'm sure there are at least some releases in between that were at least as good as current stable? And if indeed not good enough, then it should raise alarm as it means that preview releases are really problematic.

I'm not much of a motivational speaker, as you can tell, but I think your "happy enough" standards are a bit too high 😉, and you should prop up stable to more recent. previews shouldn't get that far out from releases...

My 2 cents: only release versions labeled 'stable', as is the usual case in software releases. Don't make alpha releases available for download at all. And only allow previews for a short time, then remove them from the download area.

I've used ConEmu off and on for years, and most everything I've ever used was marked 'alpha'. The word 'alpha' is not encouraging, though the program is far from alpha quality. Thanks
