Under Settings>Keys & Macro>Mark/Copy it doesn't appear to be possible to make it to clear the selection with its contents once a new character is written. This is the default behavior in Windows text elements, when you type something, everything in your selection gets replaced by what you typed. I'd love to be able to have a setting for this.
