Why are Tanks in "opt-in" mode for piping liquids? #125

Was it a deliberate decision to make the tanks only accessible for automation during a "opt-in" when clicking the sides? Because this is not really what we are used to from other containers in Minecraft. (Chests)

Personally i think it is a little bit annoying that i have to click the sides of the tank to the right mode, because normally when i attach a pipe to a tank i do this with the intention of inserting or extracting. I don't really see a reason, why the tanks should not be always accessible for inserting/extracting from all sides at all time until configured otherwise.

Well didn't Thermal Expansion also work that way? You had to mark the side of the tank (top or bottom) for extraction/insertion. Same for TE machines. You had to configure the sides for item acceptance

Personally I like how it works now. I can have a row of tanks and I don't have to worry about pipes accidentally connecting when I just want to put a conduit line next to it.

MaPePeR commented 7 years ago

Hmm... i don't remember it that way in thermal expansion, but i might have forgotten it when using EnderIO ;). For Deep Resonance it always feels like a little unneeded extra hassle and point for frustration if you forget to set something to extract/insert and wonder why it does not work.

Well with EnderIO pressurized pipes it is very obvious when the tank side is not configured correctly. The pipe simply does not connect visually

I like the feature the way it is McJty, please don't change it. I can safely place tanks and conduit without forgetting that the dang pipe connected and filled my tank with sewage. Opt-in works perfectly during setup to ensure that connections are only made when I choose them.

I typically end up disabling connections on the pipe side due to the ease at which a missclick can ruin the entire system.
