Shift CSS to use variables #23

As mentioned in issue #21, I'm creating this issue in order to switch the CSS to use variables instead of fixed hex codes.

Should I only change the CSS to use variables for colors that are already defined or is it fine to create new variables for the colors?

There are some variables currently not being used, while some needs updating. Feel free to tweak them as you see fit
