If you delete a staff, and then go to add a new bounding box, when you hit the SHIFT key the staff that you just deleted appears temporarily in the right-hand side of the screen (without any of the usual fields usually present on that screen). When you finish drawing the bounding box, the old staff disappears and the usual stuff you expect on the right-hand side of the screen shows up.
