The Problem:
If the player overrides shutdown, the scale does not indicate how much beyond the 100% heat capacity he is, even though the damage scaling appears to be going off the actual overheat value.
The player also has no way to gauge how quickly his heat will revert to normal range, making it quite easy to accidentally overcook yourself.
Proposal:
Displaying the actual overheat level instead of holding the counter at 100% would be an adequate solution.
