this sounds like either a dead disc spin plate motor or something got corrupted during the restore try replacing the lens unit with one from ebay (you most likely will have to desolder a static protection point from it) unfortunately the lens issues are a common problem with the 90001 sony really cheaped out
@DuckyDaDuck you successfully erased your nvram. Please, check nvm.bin - if it is 0 bytes in size. Some USB devices are partially compatible with PS2, looks like your USB is one of such devices. There is not much that can be done, unfortunately. The best, you can do - is search in the web NVRAM from another PS2, place it on a USB and try to restore it.
