If you are using FMCB, install FMCB cross-region. Please try this Release Candidate 3 - it should fix your problem.

Unfortunately the issue still stands, DVD-Video/ESR patched discs are not readable, same as in initial post, "data cannot be read"
Did you restore original nvram before trying mechapwn 3.0? You should restore original model name SCPH-70012 somehow. It can be done by restoring original nvram, or you can choose cex-70012 option from the menu. Also, please provide nvram backup.
Yes i did restore it to stock nvram. Also installed by running elf from LaunchELF provided with multi-region 1.966 FCMB installation. Attached backup, changed extension nvm_6.02_6386119.txt .
I'm having the exact same issue with one of my 70004 consoles.
I also tried the region free DVD player update file on the memory card (3.11 RPC1) but this didn't fix the issue either.
Attached backup of my console: nvm_6.02_4977530.zip
having the exact same issue with one of my 70004 consoles.
What region did you choose?
I chose the Europe one and when this didn‘t work with DVD videos I tried it with USA, however both show the same behavior.
@Saint-Fall you said that another SCPH-70012 doesn't have this problem. Can you provide NVRAM backup for that? Also, can you provide the sticker photos for all your PS2? Also, can you provide the same data (sticker+nvram) for your 50001?
@AKuHAK I don't have any 70012 consoles (only 70004 ones), but I uploaded the data I am able to provide for you, of course.
Attached you'll find four NVRAM backups (50001/N, 50004 and two 70004s) including the corresponding stickers. One of the 70004 consoles is not able to read DVD-Videos after mechapwning, the other one is. I named the folders accordingly so you can differentiate between those two. NVRAM_Backups_and_Photos.zip
great Thank you a lot!
@Saint-Fall looks like it is affecting the 6.02 Mechacon version (maybe 6.00 too). To be completely sure maybe @VRtinker , you can provide similar data for your two SCPH-70012?
Here's my sticker too, maybe it helps. I've already uploaded nvram backup some time ago in this thread.
@picadk @Saint-Fall can you check attached nvram backups nvm_6.02_4977530_test1.zip nvm_6.02_6386119_test1.zip ? Extract nvram backup into root of USB, install mechapwn 3.0 and on the second stage choose restore backup option.
@AKuHAK Thanks for the test backup, I've just tested the one for my console. Unfortunately the error persists, a DVD Video formatted disc is unable to be read.

Wow, that was fast. Ill try to implement another test.
nvm_6.02_4977530_test2_30004.bin.zip @Saint-Fall another test version
@AKuHAK I've just tested your second file, unfortunately same behavior. With this modified backup the laser additionally sometimes acts up crazy after spinning the disc for a while and the PS2 gets quite loud.
I uploaded a video here to make the behavior with the mechapwned 7000X clearer for you. Shortly after the disc gets inserted you can hear the two beeping sounds the PS2 does when it accepts a disc (seconds 10 and 14, it is very faint), so somehow it recognizes those DVD Video discs. Strangely, after this happens the drive stops spinning (second 16) and the laser makes some weird clicking noises, then the PS2 browser gives the error.
Can you check what does example.elf reports? https://github.com/ps2homebrew/OSD-Initialization-Libraries/releases/tag/latest
Yes, of course. Here a photo with stock NVRAM:
And here the one with MechaPwn 3.0 RC3 (not the test ones from this thread):
Hey @AKuHAK , sorry for the late reply. I installed nvram backup that you've prepare for my console and it didnt help. Screen from example.elf (they were the same before and after installation )
@picadk @Saint-Fall thank you for your help, issue identified: 6.02 firmware has a bug. It is fixable, but it can take a long time to implement, so currently, this will be added into known bug list.
Alright, thank you very much for your work!
This issue for DVD video playback on Mechacon 6.02 (6.00?) will only affect in DEX option (not CEX)

yes, but i dont see much benefits in CEX mode. Max you will get - you can change console language set, and thats all.
Will this eventually be fixed? I have the same issue with my SCPH-70004, so I can't use mechapwn. Updating DVD software to latest version doesn't help.
When using mechapwn: DVD's won't play. Original PS2 and PS1 games work. ESR Patched Backups don't work. Masterdisc patched games work. Backup PS1 games work.
Also when patching, with the latest beta mechapwn it doesn't show the correct console name. It does change when patching with the latest stable version.
Thanks,
Will this eventually be fixed?
Probably no, as this is hardware bug.

This definetly is strange, you should provide your sticker photo and nvram for investigation.

Hi,
Sorry for the late answer, here is the NVRAM BACKUP: nvm_6.02_7047038.zip
And here is the sticker photo:
I still hope it can be fixed, it would be awesome.
Thanks.

That's too bad. I recently picked up two slims to mess around with. The 70001 has mechacon 6.04, using 3.0RC4, everything I care for works great. PS1 backups work, PS2 backups patched as master discs load fine with wLE, and DVD video discs play fine.
Tried the same mechapwn install procedure on my 70011 which has mechacon 6.02, everything except DVD video plays. I installed 3.11J to my FCMB memory card, but this didn't make any difference.
Looks like having 6.02 is the issue for the time being.
Same issue confirmed on SCPH-70000 with Mecha 6.02. Would it be possible to add a quick note about this version of Mecha being bad for DVD playback in that section of the Readme?

It’s not DVD’s only not working, ESR patched games don’t work either. I guess because they are patched as DVD. The console description doesn’t change either with latest MECHAPWN BETA. I wasn’t able to test other region original games.

They already have a notice in bold on the RC4 release page: “70k consoles with mechacon 6.02 will stop to boot FreeDVDBoot! You are warned.”

Oh it’s confusing, I thought it was only when Force Unlock was enabled?

I agree it’s confusing. I didn’t notice it until after I experienced the problem.

Having the message there also implies the issue is introduced in the RC and earlier versions have this working, whereas in fact it's an issue with all versions, so the warning should really be more general I think.
I thought about trying the previous release! but figured wasn't worth the effort after reading this issue thread.
"Disc read error." or "The disc could not be read." appears
Ah, yes forgot to convert this issue int in-app warning for non-compatible consoles.
Hi,
I'm having a very odd issue with a SCPH70012 model. I have two of these (and a few SCPH77001s and SCPH50001), but the following is only happening on this particular console. When I flash it as DTL-H70012, I lose DVD-Video playback (it will say data cannot be read, or something similar). Everything else seems to work as expected. I only have original PS2 DVD NTSC-U games and PS1 NTSC-U backups on hand for testing, but there are no issues there. When I restore the nvm backup, DVD-Video playback comes back as expected. What's odd is that on my other SCPH70012 none of this is the case. Furthermore, I'm seeing something that I also think is odd when I try to flash it. The backup that it creates is never the same and it also alternates between Mecha 6.02 and 6.03 (not sure if that's intended, but didn't look right to me) without any particular rhyme or rhythm that I could identify.
I can live without DVD-Video playback on this particular device, but I'm just curious what would make this odd behavior occur when the other SCPH-70012 I have is not experiencing any of that.
I'd be happy to provide the plethora of nvm.bin I collected as I tried to figure out what the heck was happening!
Cheers
