There are 2 questions in the ticket, .
DPX conformance checker The conformance checker part of MediaConch is currently developed for MKV and FFV1, so the message about no support of DPX is expected. The idea is to be able to expand MediaConch to any format when there is a wish from entities to have a conformance checker for this format. DPX could be one of these format on request (sponsorship of the development). Side note about DPX specifically: another project, RAWcooked, is having (not the current stable version, but development snapshots have some tests and next release will have even more tests) a DPx conformance checker, you could be interested checking it when it is available. No plan for the moment to have RAWcooked as a MediaConch plugin, but could be done on request (sponsorship).
DPX policy checker, general behavior. DPX is supported by the policy checker as a general support of all formats read by MediaInfo, nothing specific was developed for it, i.e. we did not check intensively DPX directories with thousands of DPX files (or any other format). We may have work to do for that, smaller than the conformance checker part but still some work, so not a quick and free fix.
As the crash part is the most problematic and the DPX conformance checker a more long term need, I prioritize the crash, and change the title. It may be good that you create another ticket for the DPX conformance checker part so we can track both issues separately.
I have been using Mediaconch GUI for audio and video formats but am coming across several issues when dealing with DPX files. Image and video based policies I created don't seem to be validating DPX correctly (a handful). Reports show message: MediaConch does not support DPX as found in video track or image track. A 'general' policy seems to work with a small number of files but not a full DPX directory. When I try validating over a thousand dpx files the checker keeps crashing.
