Now that the Checker has changed quite a bit, do you still feel this way? The buttons are still orange in the GUI for Policies and Display.
FWIW GUI design development will follow MediaConchOnline design development.
v16.03 (Xubuntu 12.04 / 64bit):
I still feel that the buttons shouldn't be colored, unless there's a good reason for it. Why the orange? The red could make sense in terms that it's supposed to warn that the user will delete all policies.
BUT:
Thanks and regards, Peter the UI-princess :princess:
You are talking about the GUI, right? GUI is trying to follow the same design patterns as Web, but orange button on the web isn't as strongly perceived as "warning." But we can remove it. I think it was just a color to balance against the blue (which is lacking in the GUI).
Is this preferred?
Haven't spent too much time on design-design of the software since it's changing very rapidly (especially with the GUI version, Web version leads in UI), but I can see how this overlaps.
Also the font is dropping out for some reason... its easier on the eyes when not Times New Roman. But that's a different ticket to file!
I think it's great to keep the web-UI and executable-UI resembling each other  I've just looked at the web-UI, and the orange there looks really good there. The gray version you've posted also looks fine.
However, in the executable, there are 2 worlds colliding: Parts are HTML-ish designed (with colors) - and the rest ist classic Win95-gray.
I think it's this UI-paradigm-clash that feels wrong in the executable.
btw: the "Export" button for policies in the web-UI is inconsistent with the other buttons: Not rounded, white-on-orange
Parts are HTML-ish designed (with colors) - and the rest ist classic Win95-gray.
There were actually 2 people at the same time working on different proofs of concept, and now we are in the process of merging. Will look more coherent in the future.
I must admit that the colors of the policy editor buttons make me nervous.
At first sight (and even though I know they're buttons), I think they look more like a list.
And the colors give the impression that something is wrong (due to being orange/red, which are usually colors of warnings)
Would anyone mind if these buttons were just plain default colored (e.g. grey)? It makes sense to highlight the "delete" button, but maybe rather using a common "delete" icon?
