live streams analysis is possible and was already implemented by some users, but by developing themselves the interface between the packet capture and MediaInfo. For instance one of our sponsors uses MediaInfo for satellite capture and send the MPEG-TS packet to MediaInfo, and dump info in real time.
We could implement native support of live stream protocols if we find a sponsor for it, so I flag the issue as "NeedSponsor".
What would the cost be?

It depends a lot about the scope of the project (or you are ready to sponsor a lot ;-) ), please contact us at ino@mediarea.net for figuring out how we can have a sustainable dev cost for both of us. Fr reference our hourly rates.
I was wondering if live streams analyse is already available in MediaInfo.
For now, i see that as a mean to analyse the stream before send it to the transmuxing/transcoding engine(s). So, not only user's local medium will be scanned by MediaInfo at the start of the media player but also their web playlist.
Feel free to close this issue if you find it out of purpose.
