I assume you are using latest version of wysiwyg downloaded from here. Does it work similarly with IE11 and FireFox v33.1.1 ?
You could also try to empty cache of your browser, close all browser session and restart browser, then try preview again.
In my wiki with simple test page preview works without problems. But I agree that it may not always work 100% properly and result may vary depending on what kind of contents your page has. Unfortunatedly it is very difficult for me to debug this kind of problem, because it may heavily depend on surrounding elements and not least with contents of the page.
Wysiwyg was doing html conversion for page contents also when page was already converted into html (basically it was calling html conversion two times, 1. time for wikitext content which was ok, and second time unnecessarily for converted html contents) . I am not sure if this may have caused problems also in preview of page. Perhaps you could try if version "1.5.6_0 [B551+12.01.2015]" works any better in your system.
Can this be closed as no updates for 4 years? Also seems like may have been fixed.
Every few edits, when you hit "Preview," WYSIWYG will give you a plain white window full of its flavored HTML and fail to load the editor frame, so you can't switch back to source editor either.
