My view, The goal of cities can be understood as twofold:
Facilitating Unity and Identity: Cities aim to bring together diverse communities, creating a larger, integrated community. Through this integration, the city becomes a shared space where individuals from various backgrounds, cultures, and traditions coexist. The goal is to foster a sense of unity and shared identity that transcends individual communities. This shared identity is often reflected in the city's culture, traditions, and values.
Enhancing Collective Value: Cities strive to provide additional value to their residents that goes beyond what individual communities can achieve independently. The concentration of resources, opportunities, and services in a city allows for collaboration and cooperation between communities, leading to the creation of collective value. This can include economic opportunities, cultural richness, educational and healthcare services, and overall improvements in the quality of life for residents.
In essence, the goal of cities is to serve as dynamic and inclusive hubs where different communities converge, interact, and collaborate. By doing so, cities aim to cultivate a sense of shared identity and to offer a level of value and opportunity that surpasses what individual communities could provide on their own. The success of a city is often measured by the extent to which it promotes unity, inclusivity, and the well-being of its diverse population.
In this context the primary aim of a city is to create basic amenities for the support of a good life, basic amenities such as hospitals, schools, electricity, good roads etc, Interestingly, narrowing it down to web3 and the meeds ecosystem the city core responsibility is to provide; transparency and accountability, decentralized collaboration, remote collaboration and networking, and finally incentivized contribution and a good reward system
In the context of Web3, "cities" typically refers to digital communities or networks within decentralized platforms or blockchain-based ecosystems. These digital cities can represent virtual spaces where users interact, collaborate, and exchange value, similar to physical cities but in a digital realm.
In the real world, Cities are conservative, making provision for necessities for comfortable living, now integrating these real-world concepts into web3 gives more to our usual experience; In World of Meeds this visual city will represent decentralization to its fullest, encompassing transparency, and interoperability (city data exchange), and incentivization for contributors etc.
A city is a way for the communities to come together and create a larger community. And as a consequence, acquire a certain identity, associated with that community. It is also a way to provide additional value to its users - value that would go beyond one community’s capabilities or value created through cooperation between the communities.
