I've seen many people be confused on the new version of Sonic Mania Wii So I've decided to make a tutorial of sorts here. One Because I don't know where else to post & Two so the game can be installed easily.

  1. Download SonicManiaWii_v(Insert Version Number Here).zip from the releases page. The other Zips are the source code to the release. (Note: There May Be A New release so download that one instead) (2ND Note: This zip is for the base game. You need to compile the Plus DLC Version Yourself. There's another Tutorial On How To compile on Windows By SpanishFreddy - https://gbatemp.net/threads/sonic-mania-port-for-wii-not-wii-u-tutorial-windows-port-of-mephiles.620546/ )

  2. Insert Your USB Drive/SD Card into your computer (You can also use your phone using adapter) and open the zip file. There should be 2 folders one called /apps and the other /RSDKv5. Copy them to the root of your drive (The Root should be the top folder of your drive. In other words it should say (driveletter):\ ). If you already have homebrew aplications installed, merge the /apps folders.

  3. Go to the /RSDKv5 Folder. There should be 4 folders named /Sonic1, /Sonic2, /SonicCD, and /Mania. /Sonic1, /Sonic2, & /SonicCD are reserved for the Sonic Origins Versions of Said Game. The Folder needed for Sonic Mania is /Mania. Here You place Your Data.rsdk file. You have to provide the file yourself from any means, perferably the Steam Release. The Sonic Origins Versions of Sonic 1, 2 & CD will probably not work as the Data.rsdk files need to be edited using the RSDK Unpacker and The Moblie versions of sonic 1, 2, & CD (The PC Version Works also) and Even Then There will be bugs and issues with said games. Sadly, save data from the steam release will probably not work as it bugs out when played on the Wii. I'd Suggest to place mods after testing it works.

  4. Eject the drive and insert it into the Wii. Boot it up and go to the Homebrew Channel. If done correctly, the Sonic Mania app should be there. Open It. If all done correctly, the game should boot up.

  5. The game will now work but this isn't the End. You will now see Setting.ini. Here You can set a Username to appear in the Menu, Activate Devmode by adding the string: devMenu=y, And as of v0.4.0, set the video mode to 240p by adding the string: runIn240p=y under the Video Section. As Of v0.5.0, Mods Are Supported, so in the /Mania folder create another folder called /mods. Here you place the mods of your choice. For Better Frame rate in the Special Stages download the No Special Stage Decoration mod, but otherwise the customization is Up to YOU. Now next time you boot up Sonic Mania You will now see your mods activated (Note: Some Mods Will Not Work Due To The Wii's Memory Restraints, Causing it to Crash). If You only want some mods to be activated, You can edit the Modsetting.ini file created in the /mods folder by editing this string from y to n: modname=y to modname=n.

  6. (ONLY IF YOU COMPILED THE PLUS DLC) If You Compiled the Plus DLC, you will now have a .dol file. Rename to boot.dol and replace the boot.dol file in /apps/sonicmania with it. If successful, the game will boot up and the title screen should now say Sonic Mania Plus and you should see Eggman Fly with Mighty & Ray Trapped in A Capsule.

You Now Have a Working Sonic Mania/Sonic Mania Plus Build On The Wii.
