Welcome to the MeghanC_UnityPrototype2

Prototype 2 Questions

1: Approximately how much time did you spend in the Forest Simulation? 2: Did you follow the path? Did you ever go off the path to explore? 3: In games with huge terrains, what do you think keeps players playing and exploring? 4: Would this prototype work as a "Relaxing Forest Simulator?" 5: With the use of NPC's and quests, do you think you would have explored the map more to complete a quest? 6: How would you improve the experience?

Design Journal

Think Big - Really Big Added and tested more assets from the Asset Store Originally wanted to be a flying simulation - will save for Prototype 3 If seen as success, will implement similar terrain and test new environments for Prototype 3 -> Note: Add more environments (mountains, tundra???, volcano???) Small issue regarding FPS and Shading of Trees. Wind disabled on Trees - problem unknown Try to add better water physics for next time.

  1. 4 minutes at most?
  2. I walked along the path till I found a rock. Then I walked off the slope that lead to that rock (by simply going towards the red flowers) a bit and quit the game.
  3. When there's constantly things you can find and do. Walking around to find the next thing you can interact with.
  4. With how it is now, no, because there's nothing else to do except walking, looking and running.
  5. Of course, I followed the path in the first place to find something to interact with.
    • Either increase the stamina by a lot or remove it entirely. The biggest reason why I followed the path and didn't explore otherwise is because of the stamina. Because of the stamina, I explored in a way where I felt was the quickest and most sure-fire way to find something to do. Usually, you're more likely to find something when you follow a path than when you don't.
    • Add fun little interactions, even if they amount to nothing.
    • Improve the jumping, there seems to be no use for it. Even when you're in the most optimal positioning to get the most height, it really does nothing. You can also remove it entirely; replace jumping with something like climbing; or, have both an improved jump + climbing.

As a side-note: Definitely nailed the forest feel, although it was more of a walking along a forest path feel.
