I've incorporated most of your changes, apart from the Pawn stuff. That remains as before. Feel free to reopen or start a new pull request if there are further improvements.

As the other pull requests also reflect a now mostly outdated version, I'll close those as well. Thank you very much for your effort and the discussion, and feel free to resubmit.
