Should one-way patterns and request-response patterns return a different status code?

The LDN Specification allows two HTTP status codes to be returned when POST-ing a notification:

201 Created returning the location of the new created notification in the inbox
202 Accepted returning information about the status of the request (used for asynchroneous processing)

Is this undecided what to return, or should specify something?

For the outbox ActivityPub hints at using 201 Created for all requests, for the inbox noting is mentioned. https://www.w3.org/TR/activitypub/#client-to-server-interactions
