What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Mount an sshfs filesystem.
2. Put tens of thousands of files in a directory.
3. Innocently mouse-over either in the applet.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected output is either acceptable performance or the directory not
opening right away. Instead, it freezes entirely for some time.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

OS: 32-bit Ubuntu 9.10 (Linux)
Package: 0.6.4-0ubuntu1, from repository

Please provide any additional information below.
