Could replicate the issue by using the Scott's workspace and I could see that the compiled mod files were someway corrupted. I guess that something went wrong with mod files compiling and couldn't recover. My best guess is that the kernel was reloaded at the first try and the compiling process was interrupted. What I did was to delete manually the x86 folder. Maybe worth implementing a failsafe functionality to reset the mod files from the ui either automatically or with a button
