Open synic opened 3 years ago

synic commented 3 years ago

Describe the bug

I am using Vivaldi, installed metamask and immediately a blank screen opens. I am unable to do anything with the metamask extension at this point, when clicking on the icon, it just opens a new blank screen.

*Steps to reproduce (REQUIRED)

  1. Install Ubuntu 21.10
  2. Download Viviald
  3. Install MetaMask
  4. Bob's your uncle

Expected behavior I should be able to interact with metamask

Same here on Arc Browser as of yesterday (I've switched to Arc 4 months ago, had no problem with Metamask, now it has been showing a blank screen for ~48h)

++ Suddenly broke, it was working fine until 48 hours ago. Inspecting the extension reveals https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/issues/24598.

This problem still occurs on ARC browser, same as #24598, and the screen is blank. It has been unavailable for a long time. I hope you can solve the problem. Thank you.

Arc (1.61.0 (53949) browser and metamask (12.2.4) are both the latest versions

I have the same problem with the following configuration:

The popup looks like this when I click the extension icon: Screenshot 2024-09-23 at 17 05 52

These are the initialization logs: Screenshot 2024-09-23 at 17 05 23

I'm getting this as well. reinstalled the extension twice. No luck.

Seeing the same errors in the logs.

Arc version: 1.61.0

szolowicz commented 1 month ago

Same as above, https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/issues/24598

image

Arc Version 1.61.0 (53949) Chromium Engine Version 129.0.6668.59

Btw. requesting e.g. eth.requestAccounts works properly (the popup is not blank)

For a temporary workaround, you can add this to your pinned tabs and access metamask:

chrome-extension://nkbihfbeogaeaoehlefnkodbefgpgknn/home.html#

danjm commented 1 month ago

Can everyone who has not done so please share their Arc version?

1.61.0

We are in communications with the Arc team, and work is being done to resolve the issue.

danjm commented 1 month ago

Update: Arc has fixed the problem on their side, but it will require an Arc version update for that fix to be available to users. That update may not happen until next week.

In the meantime, workarounds include the one mentioned above by apoorvlathey :

For a temporary workaround, you can add this to your pinned tabs and access metamask:

chrome-extension://nkbihfbeogaeaoehlefnkodbefgpgknn/home.html#

or temporarily using MetaMask with a different browser

It seems that Arc browser extension popup is not respecting <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=/popup.html" />

hinsxdcro commented 1 month ago

For a temporary workaround, you can add this to your pinned tabs and access metamask:

chrome-extension://nkbihfbeogaeaoehlefnkodbefgpgknn/home.html#

Or you can go into the extension folder, copy and paste the content of popup.html into popup-init.html

For arc browser's default user, it should be

~/Library/Application Support/Arc/User Data/Default/Extensions/nkbihfbeogaeaoehlefnkodbefgpgknn

We believe that the issue being experienced by Arc users is now fixed in the latest Arc update. Can anyone experience that issue update their Arc browser and confirm?
