Un-hide my hidden tokens #9813

rekmarks commented 3 years ago

We allow users to hide tokens, but do not expose a way of editing them after the fact. Users should be able to un-hiden tokens via settings.

As a MetaMask user with hidden tokens, I'd like to find a place where I can unhide them, so that I can swap, send, or otherwise manage them.

Description

We need an option to find ones hidden token. This could be a toggle in the Assets (Tokens) list, or something more buried in the settings menu. Many users hide a token simply because it has a 0 balance, but later need to find that token and are unable to when they later have that assets.

I found a solution, not as ideal as having an unhide button, but it works. Hidden tokens have to bee added again as custom tokens using the token contract. Go to Assets/Add token/Custom Token and paste the contract address, which you can find on your token's official webpage. After that it will show again in your metamask assets.

Unfortunately that's not possible, metamask throws "token already added" error on the custom contract view

dear ones hope you are well!

I added metamask on chrome and opened a wallet. first it was etheureum. then I added a network of bnb bsc mainnet.

I received 0.113697 BNB on my bnb bsc wallet 0xd9f8886e9ca7074fee9568e3e8febcee829f343d(https://bscscan.com/tx/0x7a4a7815b0fbb8f3a26ba2de8615af487e25d9dcd0ef1790b292dedf411be94f) When i import a wallet with secret recovery phrase that i got when i got my bnb wallet on metamask(0xd9f8886e9ca7074fee9568e3e8febcee829f343d) the one I used to receive my 0.113697 BNB; the wallet i see is different from the one that has my bnb assets which ishttps://bscscan.com/address/0xd60c6bf57009b5157d9daf3d288fa3a220ad6c15. But if i am in smart chain network, the adress i see is different from what has my bnb asset 0.113697. but if i go on ""copy to on clipboard"" and paste sowhere i see then my bnb that has my 0.113697bnb asset.(0xd9f8886e9ca7074fee9568e3e8febcee829f343d).

what can i do to see my 0.113697 bnb on my adress:0xd9f8886e9ca7074fee9568e3e8febcee829f343d since the other adress is obnb?

Thank you so much and God bless you

Bump. Still persists in 2022.

Also, using the Custom Token -> Contract address now fails to return tokens to the asset list.

At least this occurs with USDT.
