Currently when we boost something to the top of hot it seems a lot more persistent than it used to be. We can bury after a time, though it would be nicer if there was a more natural degradation for them to move down the feed by themselves.
The new post activity does not decay over time anymore, but is just "sum of activity in the last week". This was a deliberate simplification. I would prefer to see if fixing 1. improves the situation enough before increasing complexity again.
