Revisit game goal #5

Open macterra opened 3 years ago

We inherited a generic goal from the microNomicon:

The goal of the game is to create a learning organization

We have the opportunity to make it more precise. What should we aim for?

I feel like I need a sense of the participants, but "bridging organization" might work.

I think an unfocused version would be nice to start off with, just to warm up. Hmm, maybe I could propose a rule saying "the rules for the first 20 rounds will all be reset. The 21st rule should refine the goal" or some such.

I was thinking along the same lines of "bridging organization" but more specifically the goal could be to help build a bridge to Stage 5, along the same lines as Chapman's Meaningness project and Evan's The Bridge.

I would be reluctant to vote for a rule to reset after 20 rounds because each round is a fair amount of effort. Maybe a reset after 5 rounds max.

Some bridgey possibilities:

I think let's defer the specifics for a few rounds? I'm a little reluctant to pick anyone of these yet.

OTOH, maybe constraining the goal early on makes for more interesting gameplay. What's been your experience @macterra?

Creating branches we could roll back and switch between ("meta-systematically"!) is an exciting idea to me. Having multiple consistent rulesets, with (somehow) soft meta-rational rules to switch between them... juicy stuff. Reading the eggplant book further in (to the constructive parts) will probably help.

In my experience, we can spend quite a bit of time building out infrastructure for the game, but eventually, we will want a specific goal to maintain focus and motivation to continue playing, infinite game style.
