Users should be notified of new chats by email #91

Is email a quicker development effort than going with push notifications. I like having a way of being notified but I also like not receiving a thousand emails. With early adopters this may not be problematic. I would say its ok to hold off on this one for now. Ones need to connect with someone else should be enough to encourage one to open up the app for now.

@bsteinbeigle Even apps that I use daily send me emails when something important happens, like I get a DM on Twitter. I think people would be frustrated to open the app and see that they've received messages from people but had no way of knowing.

Yes, email is easier than push notifications, especially since this isn't a native app. Personally I'd rank this as a pretty high priority. We should have transactional emails for sign up and email address verification. If you don't do email verification then people can mistype the email on signup and not realize it, and then not be able to get into their account later because they're typing it in the correct way when logging back in.
