Definition of the axes of these fonts #3

Is the axes we are making here:

  1. A grade axis, i.e. there is no change in the layout of text when using the axis.
  2. A weight axis, I.e. there is a change in the layout of text with bolder styles taking using more space

and is that the same for all the styles under development, or are some doing one thing and others the other thing?

I think this is where your expertise comes into play. This is my first adventure with Glyphs App and variable fonts so I'm not entirely sure either way. From watching tutorials I simply assumed bolder styles took up more space as a rule of thumb. Which ever way you think is best for this type of font is what I'll try to apply to the entire set.

Can someone please check the spacing on alternates and punctuation.

Hey Tina, I’m starting to work on this today and I’m wondering whether or not you are updating the UFOs or if the latest data is only in the Glyphs files?

Cheers, David

@dberlow I just discovered the issue you were looking at. Please focus on the NSW font for today. QLD is not ready yet

dberlow commented 2 years ago

I’m sorry but that’s too late. Your work on QLD is being done after you directed me to work on it and NSW. I chose QLD first, showed you and Dave I was working on it and have done so.

I have already mentioned that we are not working on alternates at this point in the prototype would you just brought up today.

@dberlow yes, I understand we agreed to have it all ready for last commit on Friday, however I lost power and had to evacuate so I didn't get to commit the last lot of my changes, which includes fixing the axes issue that I created when applying your proposed spacing changes too broadly across the whole font. @davelab6 was sent an email regarding evacuation and requesting an extra day which I hoped he forwarded to all concerned since I had no internet or power

MezMerrit commented 2 years ago

are we not making precursive alternates production-ready? I understand we're not worrying about small caps but the precursive variants are an integral part of the family

MezMerrit commented 2 years ago

@dberlow please speak with @davelab6 about the extra day I requested

This issue has been resolved.
