Closed dberlow closed 2 years ago

All times and days are local to the person performing the action being referenced.

Friday, March 11 - Tina’s last commit for prototype deliverable sources.

Monday,March 14 - David’s last commit for prototype deliverable sources.

Tuesday, March 15 - Santiago posts vfs for Tina and Dave reviews. (Tina’s Wednesday)

Friday, March 18 - David finishes correcting issues and posts final prototype sources.

Monday, March 21 - Santiago posts final prototype vfs for Google fonts take-over.

I also need to know how many of the font families are we planning to be shipped as prototypes on this date, if not all.

2 fonts. NSW and QLD. I have commenced work on TAS, it's not quite ready yet. Things should move along quicker now that I know the first two are presentable and able to be replicated.

Had to evacuate today to somewhere with stable power and internet. I'm going to need one more day to catch up. So Saturday March 12 for last commit

MezMerrit commented 2 years ago

@sannorozco & @dberlow if you guys could just focus today on NSW font, I'll have one more commit ready for QLD font alternates by the end of the day (it's currently 5am Saturday here). Moving my office from NSW to QLD yesterday held up the show, apologies!

NSW and QLD fonts are now done to prototypes and are ready for build.

There were a lot of issues that are documented shortly in a new issue.

There are 6 proofs of each style in the /proofs folder of each family to see until builds are complete.

MezMerrit commented 2 years ago

Am I able to commit the other fonts while QLD and NSW are being built?

dberlow commented 2 years ago

The next steps, as I see them:

  1. Switch A. Tina reviews the NSW and QLD variable prototypes. B. Santiago reviews TAS font and makes prototype if ready
  2. Deliver prototype NSW and QLD to Google?
  3. Finish Plans A How to finish TAS B. How to start and finish SA (I don’t see any commits) C. VIC-WA-NT Fonts . (Like B)

let me know, thanks

Other than observing under/overshoot rules, NSW and QLD variable prototypes adhere to all the standards. I have my NSW and QLD teachers looking over them right now, awaiting their feedback

MezMerrit commented 2 years ago

I'll take this comment as a green light to commit the last 3 fonts. I'll make UFO's and commit shortly

There is an update to the progress here AU fonts progress.pdf

Let me know if this is accurate to our discussion of this week.

Thanks.

@dberlow Yes, everything seems up to spec. As I mentioned, I still don't have teachers on hand for feedback on the last 3 states yet but I'm working on it. Short of attending Uni to become a teacher ourselves 🤭, @sannorozco is doing the next best thing by reading the PDF's I provided as they contain all the information that I have researched myself.

Tina,

If you have your own plan, that’s fine. I gave you a plan to stop working over the weekend while we prepare the prototype in time for Monday. There was no discussion of alternate characters and they will not be included in the prototype.

I have spent the day on the QLD font and I’m going to finish and update the bold later today.

There is a very tight schedule that was laid in my lap less than a week ago. This was the plan I gave on Wednesday, and I have to stick to it.

I hope that all makes sense,

cheers, David
