Works fine for me with lualatex and latex->dvips->ps2pdf. Without something like auto-pst-pdf
you can't use pstricks with pdflatex. If you have to use pdftex just add \usepackage{auto-pst-pdf}
to your preamble and compile with pdflatex --shell-escape
.
Also, current MiKTeX is 23.4. You have 23.1.
I'm sorry but pstricks never worked directly with pdflatex. See the red text at the top of the official pstricks webpage
According to your log-file you are using a local pstricks.sty
and that makes it impossible to reproduce your error. Apart from this: miktex is not responsable for errors in pstricks, report them to the pstricks mailing list. And better don't use the standalone class in minimal examples, that is not a simple class and it makes debugging quite difficult. Always use the article.cls if possible.
Your log file didn't show that error. But it shows that you are using a local pstricks.sty, and a very old pstricks.tex:
C:\MiKTeX5\tex/latex/pstricks\pstricks.tex`PSTricks' v0.93a <93/03/12> (tvz)
You also wrote that you manually changed various pstricks files. So basically your system is now in an unknown state. Uninstall pstricks, remove all local files and then reinstall it. If you still get errors send a bug report to the pstricks mailing list as they are the only one who can repair a pstricks error. Miktex only distributes the files.
Having installed the latest version of MikTeX, my files with pstricks (that run perfectly before) stop with the error message: undefined \ifPSTlualatex.
