On WWF Rage in the Cage (U), an odd audio blip can periodically be heard while on Ted DiBiase on the select screen. Occurs with the FM set to both YM2612 and YM3438 using the v2.00 bios.

I don't have real hardware to test against, but it sounds out of place and I don't believe it was present in previous versions of the core. Not sure at what point it was introduced though.

I did some further testing with different versions of the core and trying different bios. Bios doesn't seem to matter. I tried US 1.0, 1.10, and 2.0 and all of them produce the same noise.

After seemingly ruling out bios, I tested various releases of the core to see if the behavior changed at any point in time. I tried the current 20210719 release, 20210123, 20200620, and even the very first 20191205 revision. The tone varies between different core releases, but the noise is still there in all four releases I tested.

The tone will vary between releases partially because at some point the cd audio filtering was changed because of how a sega genesis 2 + sega cd 2 had different balance between cd audio and the rest of the sound. Just mentioning that for context in regard to your last sentence.
