AGA Demos #105

I've noticed a lot of the Amiga AGA demos playback very choppy. The video is not smooth. I have all the RAM at the highest setting and the processor is set at 69020 AGA.

Demos like DarksideAGA and CapturedDreamsAGA are choppy.

Do I have to change something in my settings?

Most games and demos are PAL, therefore if you are using HDMI, you need to use one of 50Hz modes. Also you need to use vsync_adjust=1 (or 2) but then your monitor/tv must support arbitrary refresh rates. Please join MiSTer forum for more info.

Thanks for getting back to me. I do have my minimig set to PAL mode. I'll double-check the vsync but I'm pretty sure it's set to 1. I'm also using this on a CRT. I already posted about this on the official Mister forum

Darkside (The Black Lotus) is not designed to run 100% in 68020 AGA.

Although the Demo's minimum Requirements is 68020, it is recommended to have 68040 or Higher.

I tried it in WinUAE 68020 and it is choppy like you mentioned on both PC [WInUAE] & Mister FPGA. SO there is nothing wrong with the Minimig 68020 AGA Core.

I tried WinUAE 68040 and it runs butter smooth.

I have contacted Psygore to see if the WHDLoad Demo is at all able to be optimized to run at 100% in 68020 AGA. Ill get back to you whenever I get a response back.

As I expected the two demos in question were made and recommended to use cpu 68030 or above. The 68020 isn't fast enough to run these demos on original hardware.
