I can't reproduce the sound problem with Ninja Combat. The game works with sound & music on my side (.neo format).
If you use HDMI output then tearing may happen depending on settings. This shouldn't be considered as a core's issue.
the Ninja Combat sound issue seems fixed after rebooting.

I’m looking at it again and it seems more like a horizontal line glitch when the screen scrolls vertically. Though that can also still be screen tearing. This only happens in-game though, it’s fine on the title screen (and every other Neo Geo game I’ve tried).
I’m using the direct video out of the HDMI to a standard definition CRT, so the video timings should all be “original” AFAIK. I attached a video, notice the logo in the top right and the screen in general having occasional line glitching/waves when scrolling. Maybe someone can test on a similar setup to mine and see if they see the same thing?

Just tested the VGA output of the analog I/O board and the same issues occurs.
Also compared to a real hardware video on Youtube and the graphical corruption doesn't seem to happen on real hardware.
Ninja Commando has a lot of video issues on original hardware.

It may be difficult to notice on the videos because they are only 30fps.
Screen tearing is normal in ninja commando. And there is sound in ninja combat. I tried both .neo and darksoft roms
On closer look it does seem normal in this game, the waviness when scrolling is less apparent in online videos but still there. I’ll close this, thanks everyone for looking into this
The tearing is noticeable when you get to the gameplay (first stage) in ninja commando
Ninja Combat is silent
thanks for looking into these!
