Sending a request to the backend API #26

Need to send a request to the backend API on page load (or refresh) to get the cards before they can be placed into the DOM.

There is a chance me and @istarlet are going to cover some of this as a result of #28 being handled in the backend. Either I or @istarlet will keep this issue updated with the result when that happens.
