Difference between Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps and Office 365 Cloud App Security unclear. #512

Dear,

The page doesn’t specify how you can access / if there is a different portal to access “Office 365 Cloud App Security”.

Other documentations surrounding “Office 365 Cloud App Security” also doesn’t specify if there is a different portal compared to “Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps”.

Could it be possible when references are made to “Office 365 Cloud App Security” that it is referring to the “Office 365” connected app in the “Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps” portal? (portal.cloudappsecurity.com => Investigate => Connected apps)

Also a message in the portal is reporting that "Office 365 Cloud App Security" is not enabled, but when you look it the screen shot below the message it displays the “Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps" portal. image

The question in short: Is the ‘Office 365” connected app in “Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps” the same as “Office 365 Cloud App Security” or is there a different portal?

Kind regards,

Ernesto

@ErnieBot - Thanks again for your question. After checking with the product group, I can tell you that Office 365 Cloud App Security is accessed through the same portal as Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps. In fact, Office 365 Cloud App Security has access to all of the features of Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, but supports only the Office 365 app connector.

We've updated the documentation to indicate this.
