I was getting a similar issue when running through the same QuickStart Get Started with Azure Synapse Analytics.

Except, I received a "403 - Forbidden" error on 5 Analyze data with dedicated SQL pools. As I was trying to load the NYC Taxi Data parquet file from the ADLSG2 storage account into the dedicated SQL pool (SQLPOOL1).

The solution was having the storage blob data contributor role assigned to me. It may not fix your issue, but it might lead you in the right direction.
