Inconsistent or incorrect explanations for VNet Peering options #115369

Hi there, there looks to be inconsistent or incorrect explanations for VNet Peering options between what is shown on this page versus what is displayed in the Azure Portal. Please advise, thanks!

Created a VNet peering between SpokeVNEtUKSouth & HubVNetSEA in the Azure Regions UK South & South East Asia respectively. In HubVNetSEA I deployed a VPN Gateway.

Below are the inconsistencies I found. This is for the peering relationship from SpokeVNetUKSouth to HubVNetSEA

Allow traffic to remote virtual network

Allow traffic forwarded from the remote virtual network (allow gateway transit)

@MSFT-mengchong , thank you for your feedback. The options in this doc and the screenshot shared by you seems to be from an older UI.

If I try to create a Vnet peering from a Virtual network now, I see the below options:

And the information tip on the above options seems to be accurate.

We have assigned this to the content owner/author for review.

@asudbring , for your review and update.

@GitaraniSharma-MSFT How odd. Just created the VNet peering again. Below is the screenshot. image

The above was attempted on 2nd Oct 2023. Am not seeing my VNet's name being included as part of the portal interface. Can this be due to a Blue/Green deployment of the updated interface?

As for the options in the doc, the version I read on the 29th September 2023 was dated 27th August 2023. Here's the pdf printout.

@MSFT-mengchong , I believed the difference could be due to classic vs preview portal UI but this doesn't seem to be true as I checked a couple of subscriptions and in both of them, I was getting the same above view that I attached a screenshot of. So, the only possibility is that the new Vnet peering view is getting deployed in a phased manner and hence not all subscriptions are updated yet. But let us get it confirmed.

@asudbring , could you please check why there is a difference in the Vnet peering options? And also, which is the latest GA option available?

@GitaraniSharma-MSFT. Roger that. Thanks for your verification efforts!

@MSFT-mengchong

Thanks for the feedback! The peering experience in portal is going through some changes and only a subset of customers can see the changes with how they release portal changes. We are aware of the changes and have work items to update our articles when the portal experience is fully rolled out and completed.
