Machine Configuration and DSC v3 Dependency

Please could you clarify and confirm if DSC v3 is a hard requirement to use Azure AutoManage Machine Configurations ?

Below pages seem are not very clear and eventually it seems DSC v3 is mandatory, especially if Linux VMs will be managed:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/governance/machine-configuration/whats-new/migrating-from-dsc-extension Machine configuration uses DSC version 3 with PowerShell version 7. DSC version 3 can coexist with older versions of DSC in Linux. The implementations are separate. However, there's no conflict detection.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/scripting/dsc/overview?view=powershell-7.4 DSC 3.0 is the new version of DSC. This version is a preview release that is still being developed. Users working with non-Windows environments can expect cross-platform features in DSC 3.0. DSC 3.0 is the version that is supported by the machine configuration feature of Azure Automanage.
