Document Enhancement Proposal: Enabling SAML as authentication provider in Microsoft Entra ID #124832

Closed Rukmini3394 closed 4 days ago

Overview

This enhancement outlines how to enable SAML authentication for a web application using Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure Active Directory). Currently, there is no clear guide that explains how to set up SAML authentication in Entra for custom applications. This proposal aims to fill that gap by providing a step-by-step process to help developers securely configure Single Sign-On (SSO) using SAML, ensuring that users can log in to applications using their company credentials.

Enhancement Details

This guide will allow users to:

Documentation Enhancement Justification

Currently, Microsoft Entra does not have an easy-to-follow guide specifically for setting up SAML authentication for custom web applications. This proposal aims to improve that by providing clear, simple instructions for users who want to configure SAML in their applications.

Conclusion

By following this guide, users will be able to securely set up SAML-based Single Sign-On (SSO) for their web applications in Microsoft Entra (Azure Active Directory). This solution will help ensure that only authorized users can access the application, using their corporate credentials. By enhancing the documentation with clear, step-by-step instructions, we aim to make the setup process easier and more reliable, ultimately improving security and user experience for organizations using Entra.
