Connect your servers to your gateway resource - is this required? #13006

Connect your servers to your gateway resource - Once you have a gateway resource in your subscription, you can begin connecting your servers to it. You can connect multiple servers and other resources to it.

  1. I installed gateway on prem with a user a@abcd.com west europe region
  2. Created resource for the gateway in west europe region
  3. Created tabular object with data source for on prem server
  4. Impersonation: used user name and pwd for a@abcd.com

I am able to process the cube even without connecting the gateway to the server.

All this is done within the network of abcd.com

So my question is do we need to Connect servers to gateway resource or i am missing something here?

@vishalaj1 Are you saying you did not complete this step, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/analysis-services/analysis-services-gateway-install#connect-servers, and were still able to process your model? Thanks

Yes! I was using my username in impersonation account for data source mån 13 aug. 2018 kl. 20:54 skrev Owen Duncan notifications@github.com:

@vishalaj1 That sounds like a bug. Can you open a support request in Azure portal? CSS tracks issues like this and can get it tested.
