Currently the instructions for Mac OSX may result in an error due to too many open files. relevant istio bug report https://github.com/istio/istio/issues/19958

@johnrkriter Thank you for raising visibility around this issue. It looks like this issue has been fixed and will be available in the next release of Istio.

I don't believe that these docs are the appropriate place to document current issues with Istio. It is a fast moving project and the links to the Istio GitHub repo should help most folks find answers to relevant Istio related issues.

@paulbouwer I agree with your assessment. Based on your preferences, I see no reason this issue should remain open.
