@srini1978 The Document explains this here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/sql-database/sql-database-read-scale-out#using-tempdb-on-read-only-replica image Hope this helps.

NavtejSaini-MSFT commented 4 years ago

@srini1978 Please let us know if you have any further question on Temp DB. Regd Change tracking we are trying to find this info and will let you know once we have an answer.

@yorek Please check this thread further and provide input.

@NavtejSaini-MSFT I apology for the confusion but my question was on temporal tables support - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/sql-database/sql-database-temporal-tables in Hyperscale database

yorek commented 4 years ago

Temporal Tables can be used on Secondary Replicas, while Change Tracking is not available on Secondary Replicas at the moment,

@yorek Thanks for the reply. @srini1978 Let us know if you need any further help.

@NavtejSaini-MSFT @yorek Thanks for helping me but let me post the original question. @yorek you have answered for the secondary replica however the question was on the read scale out. If we enabled Read scale out on Azure hyperscale db, can the read only copy access change tracking and temporal db information ?

yorek commented 4 years ago

Secondary Replicas and Read-Scale out, at the moment, in Azure SQL Hyperscale are the same thing.

srini1978 commented 4 years ago

Thanks @yorek . So if I look at this link - https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/updates/azure-sql-database-hyperscale-change-tracking-support-now-available/ where it says change tracking is available for the hyperscale, it means only the primary replica. is there a plan to make it available for secondary replica and scale out in future ?

yorek commented 4 years ago

Hi @srini1978. That's correct. AFAIK the limitation exists for all secondaries, not only for Azure SQL Hyperscale secondaries. Yes, the idea is to have CT available on secondaries too. Unfortunately at the moment I don't have any ETA to share.

Thanks @yorek
